1. Common Things About Time
- For
hourly times we use the phrase o’clock (cho giờ đúng, ta dùng cụm từ
o’clock)

4. Time in relation to now (Thời gian trong mối
quan hệ tới hiện tại)
- Now means at
this moment. Then means at another moment (usually in the past) (Now có
nghĩa hiện tại, ngay bây giờ. Then có nghĩa ở một thời điểm khác, khi ấy (thường
dùng trong quá khứ)
For example:
It’s ten o’clock now. (Bây giờ là
10 giờ.)
I got up four hours ago, at 6
o’clock. (Tôi thức dậy 4 giờ trước, lúc 6 giờ)
An hour ago, it was 9 o’clock. (Một tiếng trước
là 9 giờ)

II. TELLING THE TIME
There are 2 ways of telling the time
(có 2 cách nói giờ):
§ Giờ trước – phút sau
§ Phút trước + past/to + giờ sau
Cách 01: Giờ trước – phút sau

It’s a simple way to tell the time in English. There are some
common rules herein. (Đây là cách thức đơn giản để nói giờ tiếng Anh. Có một
số qui tắc đơn giản sau đây)
Rule 1: hourly time can be used with
the phrase “o’clock” at the end (giờ đúng có thể dùng kèm o’clock)
11.00 – eleven o’clock
Rule 2: a.m. à giờ sáng (trước 12 giờ
trưa)
p.m. à giờ
chiều, tối (sau 12 giờ trưa)
10 a.m –
10 giờ sáng
10 p.m –
10 giờ trưa
Notes: 12 p.m. = at noon
= at midday = 12 giờ trưa
12 a.m. = at night = 12 giờ đêm
Rule 3: hour – minute (đọc giờ trước
rồi đọc phút sau)
