I. /ɑː/ as in FATHER

1. How to make the sound /ɑː/

- Lips (môi): apart, as if you are yawning. Not rounded (Mở ra, như thể đang ngáp. Không tròn môi)

- Tongue (lưỡi): relaxed, flat at the floor of the mouth. (Thả lỏng, đặt sát xuống phần dưới miệng)

Notes: trong phát âm tiếng Anh Mĩ có thể kí hiệu âm này là /ɑ/

- Tongue (lưỡi): relaxed, middle position. (Thả lỏng, khẩu hình miệng mở quanh vị trí chính giữa)
